Just as we are saying goodbye to November and its golden autumn, I also want to say bye and hope to see you soon to all my followers and readers. For now I just want to take a little rest and enjoy the upcoming winter holidays. My intention is one day to continue and even widen “The Secrets of Blago”.
Since the creation of the blog I have learned a lot of new things not only for the journalistic style and communications, but also for the technical part that supports the working process. First I got to know WordPress and believe me it was a little it confusing but with the time I got used to it. I even got used to Twitter even though in the beginning I thought that it would be mission impossible. Now I realized how useful it might be
for one young journalist. I also find out how to popularize my blog in Facebook and every new like or comment was bringing me so much excitement. Something totally new was Soundcloud, a great website, allowing you to upload personal audios and share them with the world.
When it comes down to the topic I am again saying that I haven’t learned almost anything new but what is more important – it made me love Blagoevgrad even more. Going again to the different places, described in the blog made me rediscover the secrets and hidden treasures of the town. During
the working process I found new friends and learned that the basis of Journalism is to ask questions and to seek people’s opininon.
The last few months were really important to me, I grew up a little bit and learned how to appreciate even the little things in my
Here is my final video about the journey in Blago:
This week I’m not gonna publish a new post but I want to share with you the secret of Batik, which we found in Bulgaria.
This is a video for the 48 Documentary Challenge at The American University in Bulgaria by me and Kristina Yurukova.
Today Blagoevgrad is city with long and interesting history and cultural center in the south – west region of Bulgaria. This lands have been occupied in the Neolithic era. The good climate and conditions turned the place into Thracian village. The warm mineral springs made the region famous and later it attracted the Roman conquerors. The name of the town back then was Skaptopara ( or upper marketplace) which was given by Thracian tribe living in what we all today call Blagoevgrad. During the 15c the name of the town was changed several times and after 1950 it became Gorna Djumaia.
At the entrance of Blagoevgrad, near the famous neighborhood Strumsko, you can notice big monument of horse, which is the symbol of the town.
In the video below you can see the town today, some pictures from the past and the legend for Blagoevgrad…
“Autumn, the year’s last, loveliest smile.”
William Cullen Bryant
“Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower.”
This week my post is about autumn, its colors and the inspiration it brings.
As you have seen the autumn in Blagoevgrad is really beautiful and magical. The season is always bringing a lot of emotions and productivity. If you want to relax and enjoy one of the sunny days of November, the parks of Blagoevgrad are good choice for walk with friends. The Nature shows its hidden treasures and takes you away in one peaceful world.
The autumn is well known source for inspiration. This season with its colors and mild weather often unlocks creativity and artistic mood. Now talking about creativity and beauty it is time to mention one more secret of Blago – Savago.
Savago is a store for hand made jewelry, souvenirs and accessories. Not all things in the store are hand made and if you are looking for a different and interesting gift Savago is the place. The store is located on the way between restaurant Paparazzi and Pizza Venecia, so if you are going in the center of the town you show check this place. The women who you will find inside are making almost everything by themselves and can easily make your dreams come true, at least as long as we are talking about jewelry. You can choose between great variety of colors, materials and forms. If you don’t have in mind what exactly do you want the women will kindly navigate you in the world of colors and shapes. The store was opened about 6 years ago and since then it has been one of the most successful stores in Blagoevgrad. The fresh ideas and the working spirit are flowing thorough the store like a river. The ladies who work told me that they love their job and are doing everything with a huge dose of love.
This is a video of the store and the things it offers, I wanted to interview the ladies who are working inside but all of them were too shy. So I tried in pictures and video to show their creativity and the atmosphere of the store.
This guy found a bottle on the ocean, and he opened it and out popped a genie, and he gave him three wishes. The guy wished for a million dollars, and poof! there was a million dollars. Then he wished for a convertible, and poof! there was a convertible. And then, he wished he could be irresistible to all women… poof! he turned into a box of chocolates.
Forget love– I’d rather fall in chocolate!!!
“Researchers have discovered that chocolate produced some of the same reactions in the brain as marijuana. The researchers also discovered other similarities between the two, but can’t remember what they are.” Matt Lauer
“Nine out of ten people like chocolate. The tenth person always lies.” – John Q. Tullius
“Make a list of important things to do today. At the top of your list, put “eat chocolate.” Now, you’ll get at least one thing done today.” – Gina Hayes
Chocolate, chocolate and again chocolate…this is one of the most irresistible temptations in this world. Scientists from all over the world proved that it is almost impossible to stay away from a bar of chocolate or a box of chocolates. Since we were children we have been told how bad is chocolate for our teeth and that it can make us fat. Now scientists say that the chocolate is good for our health and that it can make us happier. Chocolate does not contain serotonin, the “happiness” hormone, but tryptophan, a serotonin precursor that the brain can transform into serotonin.
In conclusion we can say that the chocolate can only help us feel better and here comes the question…Where to find it?
One of the best places in Blagoevgrad where you can find a great variety of chocolate is Honore de Paris. The store is situated in the center of the town between The Face and Bakalov. It is easy to be spotted because of its different architecture and design. There you can find your favorite chocolates with white, dark and milk chocolate combined with different nuts. The store also offers fancy bouquets and instead of flowers they are made of chocolates and colorful paper. Honore de Paris will satisfy your taste buds and will take you away from the busy day. The nice and sophisticated design and the calm music will make your journey in the chocolate world even more exciting.
